About NKAWF
Animal welfare advocates joined together in 1983 to establish a charitable foundation that would support animal sheltering efforts and to educate the public about spaying and neutering. We have experienced exceptional growth over the years thanks to generous friends who make all of our work possible. We provide grant funding to dozens of pet related nonprofit organizations in Kansas and partner with national organizations to bring valuable resources to our region. Our main areas of focus include spaying and neutering, professional development, animal cruelty, and humane education.
Grant Funding
Donations made to the Foundation are invested, grown, and distributed to worthy causes. We award tens of thousands of dollars in grant funding to shelters, rescues, community cat initiatives, and outreach programs every year.
Cruelty Stoppers
Our Cruelty Stoppers program provides financial support to help rehabilitate animal victims of abuse. We also use this fund to provide training for law enforcement and to raise awareness about animal cruelty and neglect.

Advocacy for animal issues, pro bono consulting, capital improvement gifts, event sponsorships, public awareness campaigns, community outreach, professional development, technology upgrades, and more!
Pet Rehoming, Fostering, and Adoption Services
Home To Home® Partnership
Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation has partnered with Home To Home® to help families with pets in our area. This interactive tool will give pet owners who can no longer keep their pets the opportunity to find new, loving homes without having to surrender them to the shelter. Pets can go from one home right into another, which means less stress for animals and humans alike. In addition, this offers potential new owners the opportunity to communicate directly with the current owners, providing firsthand information about the animals.
In addition to rehoming, the Home To Home® foster network directly connects pet owners who are seeking temporary housing for their pet with individuals who can open up their homes and hearts to provide short-term care until the pet can be reunited with its family
